Northbrook History
Northbrook Baptist Church was
established in the Northbrook residential area of Cedar Rapids in 1978
to minister to the growing population of northeast Cedar Rapids,
Robins, Hiawatha, Marion, and the surrounding area. In 1986 a permanent
building at the present location was built. In the 1990's the church
had outgrown its sanctuary and a second Sunday morning worship service
was started. In 2002 we were blessed with a new multipurpose building
and returned to one Sunday morning worship service. In June of 2006 we
called Eric Schumacher as our senior pastor.
Northbrook Staff
Eric Schumacher, Senior Pastor In June of 2006, Northbrook called Eric Schumacher as Senior Pastor. We are grateful to God for his commitment to putting our focus on Christ and Christ's glory by carefully explaining and applying God's Word. Pastor Schumacher and his family have blessed our church in many ways.
Pastor Schumacher married Jenny in 1998, and they have three children: Josiah, Micah, and Elijah. He graduated from the University of Northern Iowa where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in general communications and minoring in religion. He received a Master of Divinity degree from Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. He was formerly pastor of Bethany Baptist Church in Keokuk, Iowa. In addition to writing hymns and updating his blog, he likes to play piano and Risk.
Check out his statement of faith, conversion and call to ministry, and ministry philosophy here.

they have three children: Zachary, Emily, and Elijah. He has a Bachelor
of Arts Religion degree from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa,
